WELCOME TO THE 2023-2024 SEASON

All Tournament Organizers of Sanctioned Tournaments MUST comply with the following process for submitting Tournament documentation and validating background-checked Officials.

  • All Tournament Organizers will be required to submit a list of officials who worked their event. At this time, this list ONLY needs to include the referees working the Tournament.
  • The Division will submit the list of officials when the classification report is sent to the USA Fencing National Office. YOU MUST SUBMIT THIS LIST WITH YOUR TOURNAMENT DOCUMENTS GENERATED FROM FENCING TIME to the Division Secretary/Division Chair WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE CLASSIFICATION CHANGES TO SUBMIT.
  • All officials (to include Referees, Bout Committee members, Armorers and any other Professional Members working the Tournament) are required to be background screened for USA Fencing sanctioned events (see the current Green-Light list on this page.).

NOTE:  The requirement does not include self-directed events or apply to individuals who are under the age of 18.

Tournament Organizers are ultimately responsible for validating that their hired Officials are within compliance of the Professional Membership and Background Check requirements. Please ensure your Officials are valid and screened using the required SafeSport process and the USA Fencing-approved . For more information, see the Policy Documents posted on the SafeSport page at USAFencing.org.

POSTING YOUR TOURNAMENT ON ASKFRED DOES NOT CONSTITUTE APPROVAL.

REQUESTS ARE ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.

Listed below are South Carolina Division Sanctioned Tournaments as well as National tournaments and ROC tournaments held in the surrounding area. See AskFred.net for details about these and other tournaments.

Per Item 4, Part B of the Tournament Sanctioning Policy:

“Tournament directors must communicate their sanctioning requests directly to the Division Chair. Posting a tournament on AskFred or otherwise advertising the tournament does not constitute a request for sanctioning. Sanctioning requests must be made far enough in advance of the tournament that the Division has time to properly consider the request.”

Further information regarding this policy may be found on the Documents page under SC Division Tournament Sanctioning Policy & Procedures. To complete the Sanctioning process, dates must be added to the Division Web Page at the time that Sanctioning is requested. Please copy the Division Secretary on requests for sanctioning. The Web Page Calendar serves as the Official Schedule for the South Carolina Division as well as for purposes of the National Office. Per Section 3-6 of the USA Fencing Operations Manual, Tournaments that are not added to the Division Web Page Calendar WILL NOT BE SANCTIONED. Please visit http://usafencing.org for more information. Posting events on AskFred is NOT considered sufficient notification to expect or guarantee inclusion on the Division Calendar.
