Effective immediately, USFA clubs may resume activities provided they are permitted to do so according to local regulations. That is, the USFA insurance has been restored and clubs may meet and fence, provided that local jurisdictional regulations allow it. Clubs are encouraged to ask local state, county, city and DHEC officials as to whether their club is allowed to meet with respect to applicable COVID-19 regulations.
In addition, USFA insurance is also covering online lessons (as of April 20th), provided that those offering the lessons can effectively supervise the participants. This applies to live lessons only (such as might be done via Zoom or some other such live online conferencing software).
As of today, USA Fencing is still planning to hold Summer Nationals. However, the dates have not been set. Also, we have been apprised that alternate qualifying paths will be available in case the division is unable to hold a qualifying tournament. We have not yet been informed as to what those alternate qualifying paths will look like. USFA hopes to be able to announce all that in mid May some time.
